The two halves

A woman wants to poison her son-in-law, who eats only what he also sees her eat. She divides the same piece of meat with a single cut, eats one half and serves him the other. Only he dies.

The answer
The woman had spread the poison on only one side of the blade. While cutting each half of the meat came into contact with a different side of the knife. She recognized and ate the half touched by the clean side, leaving the contaminated one to her son-in-law.
