After a jewellery theft, the owner finds a broken display window. Looking at glass on the pavement, he asks police to check staff entrances first. He does not yet know the thief.

The answer
Most fragments lay outside, consistent with a blow from within. He suspected a different entry followed by staged damage. It was not conclusive: officers checked indoor cameras and saw an employee take jewellery, then strike the window toward the street. The fragments suggested a sequence to investigate.
