The Rope on the Other Side

A rope joins a dead man to a post inside a roofed enclosure. His companion says he first closed the gate from outside, then tied the rope by hand to the post inside. After closure that automatic passage cannot reopen until morning; the body is outside.

1. Choose a narrator: they read the answer privately and hide it.
