A woman is going downstairs at work when the power fails. She waits for the sound she hears during every monthly test, but it never comes. She runs to the ward where her husband is staying, although he has not called her.

She worked in hospital maintenance. The expected sound was the emergency generator, which had failed to start. Her husband depended on powered breathing equipment. She ran to alert the staff before the backup power ran out.
