A man is found dead in the desert, naked, with a broken match clenched in his hand. Clothes and travel items lie nearby, but no footprints lead to his body.

The answer
He was travelling with others in a balloon losing height. They discarded luggage and clothes without preventing the imminent crash. They decided one person must jump and drew matches, one shorter than the others. He drew the broken one and jumped. The objects and body had fallen from above.
