A man orders albatross in a restaurant. After one bite, he calls someone he has not spoken to for years. The answer devastates him, and that night he takes his life. He has not been poisoned.

The answer
He survived a shipwreck in which his wife died. Another survivor gave him meat he called albatross. Its different taste at the restaurant raised doubts, so he called that man and demanded the truth. The survivor admitted feeding him meat from his wife’s body while they were starving on the island. The confirmation, not taste alone, drove his desperate act.
