The Remaining Quarter Hour

Level 3 · Hard

Two fuses that look identical each burn for an hour, but at an uneven rate along their length. A man must measure forty-five minutes without a clock. He lights them at different points and uses when they finish burning, without cutting or measuring the remaining sections.

1. Choose a narrator: they read the answer privately and hide it.
2. Read the premise aloud. Answers: yes, no or irrelevant.
3. When the game ends, mark the puzzle as played.
